Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for a Starseed Fund grant?

Any middle or high school student in the United States with an innovative idea or project is eligible for a Starseed Fund grant. We are particularly interested in the fields of social impact, health and longevity, environment, science, technology, and quality of life.

Although we acknowledge their value, projects in art or music are not eligible for this grant.

We will fund all stages, whether you’re just starting out with an idea or have an existing project that needs additional capital.

How much are Starseed Fund grants?

Starseed Fund grants are given in amounts ranging up to $1000 per applicant, depending on the project and request.

What is a no-strings-attached, non-dilutive grant?

No strings attached and non-dilutive means that we don’t ask for anything from you in return—you don’t have to meet any performance benchmarks or give us any equity in or royalties from your project.

You are also not restricted in how you use the grant; it can be for whatever best supports your project at the time.

The only requests we make are for a project update after 6 months, and that if you create a business that needs additional funding, you give us the option to participate.

What is the selection process?

You apply by filling out our form and submitting a short video describing yourself and your idea. We will review your application and get back to you within a week. If you’re selected, the next step is to schedule a 15-minute interview on Zoom. If your application is approved, we’ll issue you the grant! If not, you’re welcome to reapply with a different idea at any time.

How many grants will be issued?

The number of grants issued depends on the amount of each grant given.

What is the deadline for applying?

Starseed Fund grants are given on a rolling basis, so there is no deadline. However, the fund is limited and grants are first-come, first-served, so it’s best to apply sooner rather than later.
